Hosting several small websites together can simplify administration, but ?small??does not describe a resource requirement. A quiet brochure site and a media-heavy catalog can have very different needs. Start with a short inventory before comparing hosting plans.

Give every site a row
In a spreadsheet or notebook, create columns for site purpose, software, current storage, email requirements, scheduled tasks, and expected busy periods. Add a contact responsible for the site, without including account passwords.
For an invented portfolio of three sites, you might have a static portfolio, a community blog, and a small image catalog. Record their needs separately. If all three send a newsletter on the same day, their peaks may overlap even if ordinary traffic looks modest.
Separate storage from activity
Storage is what remains on disk; processing demand depends on what the application does. Include uploaded files, databases, logs, and the backup copies you intend to retain. Do not count a provider's backup promise as permission to stop considering recovery.
Use current usage figures where available. If they are missing, start with file sizes and a representative sample, mark the estimate as provisional, and plan a review. Adding arbitrary ?safety??numbers can hide the very assumptions you need to discuss with a provider.
Ask what the limit actually means
For each candidate plan, ask about the number of sites, account separation, applicable CPU or memory policies, email limits, backups, and what happens when a limit is reached. A headline storage allowance does not answer all of those questions.
PlanetHoster's World hosting page is a product-category reference for a multi-site hosting discussion. Verify the configuration and conditions you would actually purchase rather than treating the marketing headline as a measured capacity result.
If you are only publishing static pages or a single modest site, existing hosting may already be sufficient. A more complex application may require a different operating model; use the small-app VPS requirements brief to separate those needs.
Account for shared failure
Putting all sites together can mean that one billing or access problem affects several projects. Record who owns the account and which sites matter most during an outage. Keep an independent copy of important content and establish how to recover it.
Suppose one site is a personal experiment and another accepts time-sensitive inquiries. Even if their resource totals fit, you may decide they need different administration or recovery arrangements. That is a business requirement, not simply a storage calculation.
Use the inventory as the acceptance test
The result should let you point to each site and explain where its files, email, scheduled work, and backups will live. Any unknown restriction belongs on a provider question list. A provider may be suitable after those questions are answered; buying first and discovering a missing feature during migration reverses that useful order.
