Cleaning up a client's social audience is a decision about someone else's account. Before taking action, agree on what behavior is being addressed, who may authorize removals, and which accounts must be reviewed manually. A plain shared document can capture those boundaries.
Describe the problem without promising growth
Write the observed issue: repeated spam, an unexplained follower surge, or another specific moderation concern. Do not define the project as ?remove everyone who does not engage.??Inactivity alone does not establish abuse or that a follower is fake.
Use the behavior-based audience review to describe evidence and uncertainty. The project should remain justified as a moderation task even if sales and reach do not improve.
Define an approval record
Create fields for account owner, authorized operator, intended actions, exclusion criteria, uncertain cases, approval date, and stop conditions. Reference accounts through the platform's supported workflow and minimize exported personal information.
For an illustrative client, known customers and business partners might require explicit review before any proposed removal. That does not mean all other accounts should be removed. Approval must still refer to a defensible rule and a specific scope.
Separate analysis permission from action permission
Permission to inspect a report is not permission to remove followers. Likewise, approval for one account should not silently extend to every account managed by an agency. Write who makes the final decision and keep the client's own access and recovery under appropriate control.
Before connecting an external tool, review its current requested permissions, the client's requirements, and applicable platform rules. Do not promise that an automation is safe merely because a vendor markets controlled batches.
Use a review sample before broader action
Present a small representative set of proposed decisions with reasons. Include uncertain cases so the client can see the rule's limitations. If a rule repeatedly captures plausible real customers, narrow it or stop; speed is not evidence of accuracy.
SpamGuard's service information describes audience analysis and cleanup functionality. Any tool-assisted process still needs current permission, scope, and limitation checks. No paid product is required to draft the approval record, and this article does not provide a referral or recommend indiscriminate removal.
Report actions separately from business outcomes
Record the approved scope, actions performed, exceptions, and unresolved questions. Do not report a higher engagement percentage as proof of increased interest without examining the underlying figures. The engagement-rate explanation shows how a smaller denominator changes the ratio.
Avoid claims about real people that the available evidence cannot support. Keep working notes limited, protect access, and follow the client's appropriate retention arrangements rather than keeping an indefinite audience archive.
The checklist is complete when another authorized person can tell what was approved, what was not, and when work must stop. That clarity is more valuable than a large removal total.
